Places
Back in 2007, Evo Terra was known as a ‘connector’ and champion (some might say ‘evangelist’) of new and social media. Even though that’s slowed down a bit, he still prides himself on keeping up with the latest conversations and communities. But unlike the other proselytizers out there, he’ll tell you what is still keeping his attention after playing around with it for a while.

Newly Fun
The latest things tickling his fancy. After a couple of weeks, we’ll see where they move below.
card.ly A sort of social media business card?
Amazon.com author profile For when I write more books
Plancast Sharing my plans for lots of things
Still Fun
These sites stood the test and are still used by Evo on a regular basis. But that’s always subject to change.
brightkite Trying to use this more and more. Still like it!
Facebook – I check this infrequently. Still a decent service. But I’m not very active.
Flickr – I love Flickr.
Goodreads This has become the “default” book sharing service for my friends. So here I am!
last.fm – I think this could be a great place for audio podcasters to upload some of their content for discovery.
LinkedIn – Rediscovering this… and some contacts!
Netflix friend my movies?
Podiobooks.com Community – I let the community take care of itself. Mostly.
SlideShare Shorter versions of the presentations and lectures I give.
Technorati – I subscribe to alerts via RSS. Hella cool.
Twitter my personal updates
Upcoming.org – I’m rediscovering this useful tool.
uStream.tv Using this every week!
Wikipedia – Constantly amazed that this works. Yay, community!
Yelp Review businesses & services providers. Plus list events and talk to other Yelpers. Growing!
YouTube – I don’t upload a lot, but I use it often.
Was Fun
These started out good, but his attention wavered. Not that there’s anything wrong with the sites — he just didn’t find them personally helpful or interesting.
Backtype Started sending a lot of false-positives.
Blip.tv – If I uploaded more videos, I’d probably use this site.
Del.icio.us – I’m just not a bookmarker.
Digg – The value of Digg for me is negligible. Adding social media didn’t help.
Eventful – How many social calendars does one need?
FriendFeed Once Twitter became stable, I’ve not used this service.
Google Profile Not any interaction I can see. But useful for ranking. Get it.
iStalkr – FriendFeed works better.
Jaiku – Twitter fit me better
Jangl – They lost me when the SMS capabilities were changed to cause me to log in. Had promise.
Jott Tried to use the “free” services. Seems they are all gone. Shame. ![]()
Meetup.com – I rarely get to use this. Not like I don’t have enough people to see and things to do…
MyBlogLog – The value of this, for me, faded. I use Google Analytics for better tracking and don’t see the value of mixing tracking with social tools.
Myspace – The profile is active, but I get there rarely.
Nehmehyeh – I really thought this had promise. Too bad it wasn’t extensible.
Plaxo An address book mixed with LinkedIn. I used it a while, then didn’t miss it when I stopped.
Podcast Pickle – Podcast directories are fine, but we need better discovery tools.
Shefari All of my friends use Goodreads.
Spock – Will this take off?
Stickam – When I need it, I’ll use UStream.tv
StumbleUpon – I’m just not a bookmarker.
TheGORB – Had a lot of promie. Never got any traction. Sad.
Traineo – I doesn’t work for my style of workouts.
Tumblr – Really only using this for testing out things with clients. Nothing to see there.
Utterli I love this service. I just don’t find the cell phone the place I want to send much stuff these days.
Utterz – Turns out I’m not much of a “post-by-phone” kinda guy.
Wordie – I really like this, but there’s just not enough activity from me.
Zero Fun
These… he just didn’t get. Maybe something else serves a similar function, or he just didn’t care. Your mileage may vary.
30 Boxes Never had a use for it.
AdGabber I’ve left the advertising world behind, thanks all the same.
Bebo – Few people I know were/are here.
Beer Advocate – Huge beer fan. Huge social media fan. Too bad they don’t line up for me.
BigSight Profile site Chuck says ranks really well. But I don’t see anything…
Biznik – Not putting out full-posts in RSS feeds is an immediate turn off.
Book Army Another social media network for book lovers, but no action from people I know
BookTour I suppose if I was a self-promoting author… but I’m not.
Chi.mp … domain? Sorry. Don’t get this. Maybe just no one I know uses it?
Diigo productivity tool? Never really used it. YMMV
EyeJot – Don’t get me started on video voicemail. It’s a running joke.
Flixster profile for movie sharing. But I don’t really watch that many movies, so…
Fluther – I’m all about sharing knowledge in the form of answers. But just never worked for me.
Gleamd – Never understood how to do anything here.
Google Profile Not any interaction I can see. But useful for ranking. Get it.
Gooruze – Few people I know were/are here.
Grouply Don’t know that I need my groups aggregated.
Kwippy – I ignore Gmail chat most of the time. Not for me.
Mahalo.com – Never got much into suggesting sites for others. Just not my style.
Metacafe video sharing site, but I’m barely into video sharing.
My personal Ning – I use Ning, but have no need for a social network of mine own.
MyCityFaces.com – Er… what was this again?
Naymez – Too many “you’ve got something” teasers that turned out to be nothing.

Ryze business networking Nothing happened with this.
Strands Maybe it needs more effort than I gave it, but it was just one more place to check.
Trig – Few people I know were/are here.
Twine Maybe it needs more effort than I gave it, but it was just one more place to check.
